Why the Tangalle Area?

Tangalle and the South Coast is rapidly rivaling Galle and the South West Coast in popularity. The price of land in the area has risen rapidly in the last few months as investors and foreigners looking for a second home have discovered the pristine and secluded bays in the area. Some brokers in the area are promoting Tangalle as the 'jet set' capital of the country and wax lyrical about soon being able to fly in to your villa by sea plane. Whether this happens or not, and whatever one's personal views are on this form of development, there is no denying the area has some of the most beautiful and secluded bays in Sri Lanka. The construction of a new highway from Colombo to Matara, estimated to be completed in 2010, will greatly reduce the travel time to Tangalle.
